Connect Google Search Console and Analytics
Give Meelu read-only access to your real search and traffic numbers.
Meelu works best when it can see your real numbers. Two Google services provide them:
- Google Search Console shows how your site does in Google search: which searches show your pages (impressions), how often people click, and where you rank. It also says which pages Google has indexed.
- Google Analytics 4 shows what visitors do once they arrive: sessions, where they came from, which pages they land on and which key events (such as sign-ups or purchases) they complete.
Both connections are optional and read-only. Meelu can never change anything in your Google accounts.
How the connection works
When you connect, Google's sign-in page opens in a new browser tab. The sign-in runs through Composio, which keeps the login. Meelu's server uses the connection to fetch your reports every day and saves the report data to your Meelu account so the desks can show it.
Before you start
Find the Google account that already has access to your site's Search Console property and Analytics property. If you sign in with a different account, the property list comes back empty. That means the wrong account, not missing data.
Connect Search Console
Open Connections
Click Connections near the bottom of the sidebar.
Click Connect on the Google Search Console card
Google's sign-in page opens in a new browser tab. The card in Meelu says Waiting for sign-in until you finish.
Sign in and allow access
Pick the right Google account and allow read-only Search Console access. When you return to Meelu, the card says Connected.
Import your data
Click SEO in the sidebar, then open Search performance. Click Import 16 months. If exactly one Search Console property matches your site, Meelu uses it. If none or more than one matches, Meelu asks Which Search Console property is authoritative? Pick the one you trust.
Connect Google Analytics
Click Connect on the Google Analytics 4 card
It is on the same Connections screen. Sign in with the account that can read your site's Analytics property.
Pick your property
Click SEO in the sidebar, then open Traffic. Meelu asks Which Analytics property measures this site? Analytics does not say which website a property belongs to, so you always choose this yourself. Nothing syncs until you do.
Import your data
Picking the property starts the first import. If it did not start, click Import 16 months.
You can also connect straight from the SEO desk. When a service is not connected, Search performance and Traffic show a yellow box with a Connect Search Console or Connect Google Analytics button.
How long the import takes
The first import brings in 16 months of daily data. It runs on Meelu's server, so you can close the tab while it works. A progress bar shows the day it is on, such as "Importing search data — day 120 of 480". For Search Console, Meelu then checks the index status of up to 300 pages. You can click Stop sync at any time.
After that, Meelu syncs each connected service once a day on its own (Analytics only once you picked a property), and keeps every day it has synced, so your history grows beyond 16 months.
Importing costs no credits.
Search Console data lags
Google's Search Console numbers run about three days behind. A drop in the last two or three days is usually missing data, not a real drop.
What each button does
| Button | Where | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Connect | Connections | Opens Google's sign-in so you can grant read-only access. |
| Reconnect | Connections | Signs in again, for example to switch to another Google account. |
| Disconnect | Connections | Removes the Google connection. Meelu asks you to confirm. |
| Connect Search Console / Connect Google Analytics | SEO desk | The same as Connect, from the screen that needs it. |
| Import 16 months / Sync now | SEO desk | Starts the first import, or brings in the newest days after it. |
| Stop sync | SEO desk | Stops the sync. Days already imported are kept. |
To remove Meelu's access completely, disconnect here and also remove Meelu at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
For what the imported data shows, see Search performance on the SEO desk.
